Gabriel is a poet from New Market, TN. He holds an MFA from Hollins University and a PhD from the University of TN, Knoxville. He received his BA with Honors from Carson-Newman University.

He is the author of Reach: A Poem, which Brenda Hillman selected for the 2026 Academy of American Poets First Book Award (forthcoming from Graywolf Press April 2027).

His work has appeared in Kenyon Review, El Nieuwe Aca, Seneca Review, and Red Flag Poetry. He reads poetry for Waxwing.

Mostly he spends his days teaching composition and chasing his children around the yard. Right now he has a gray squirrel problem.
